Few genres demand the big screen treatment like the musical, and this month the Aero gives you the opportunity to see some of the greatest song-and-dance films ever made the way they were meant to be seen. The legendary Judy Garland delivers one of her most iconic performances as actress-on-the-rise Vicki Lester in George Cukor’s A STAR IS BORN. Among the most beloved musicals of all time, THE SOUND OF MUSIC stars Julie Andrews as a governess in 1930s Austria. Our double bill of WHITE CHRISTMAS and HOLIDAY INN does double duty as a seasonal show, though the presence of crooner Bing Crosby ensures the music never stops.
These classics from decades past are joined by a superb new film, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN, with Hugh Jackman in the lead role as famed circus impresario P.T. Barnum. Featuring several beautiful songs by composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, this story about the birth of show business demonstrates the continuing appeal of musicals on the big screen.
